Feb. 16 - Writing this after 2nd day of clinic here in P-au-P. We have been cutting off at 120 people per day at the clinic - I am one of 2 nurses triaging so get a good overview of the folks coming in. Most of them are living in makeshift tents and have colds and multiple medical problems even before the earthquake. Today we had a 22 yr old brought in dead. She was standing in line at SP's food distribution centre and collapsed. The scene at the clinic was somewhat chaotic but calmed after the Pastor (who is our point person) came and we were then able to get back to work. Their grief was so acute. These folks have been through so much. To survive the quake and then this ... the pain is intense
I am keeping well. The accommodation here at the base is adequate. Nights are hot and we sleep on bunks under a mosquito net. But we are tired and sleep ... some of the time. Food is great and fellowship equally great. This base is the centre for many of SP's projects so each night we get updates re medical, shelter projects, food distribution. A helicopter on base comes and goes. The logistics of this thing is enormous.

Feb. 14 - I am actually writing this note from P-au-P where Becky and I and a Doctor from Calgary are re-located due to a need for French Speaking nurses to work in a new clinic in the hardest hit and very poor part of the city, cite de soleil. The scenes and stories are beyond words. Even pictures just don't say it well. We are at a Sam Purse camp a little outside the city in a set-up a bit like a military base including a bunkhouse!. It is secure; there are 3 US army officers here 24/7. Much of the activity of SP is based here so there are many people and lots of coming and going.

The medical team that have been running this new clinic in which we will be working are wonderful. They leave on Sat and a new team comes so we will overlap. It is much hotter down here!! But ambiance is wonderful. The Haitian churches were overflowing today. Many have been fasting and praying as we drove through several areas today they were singing and dancing, standing outside the churches where loud speakers were bringing the service to them.

I am well and really enjoying getting to know so many of these folk who volunteer, of all ages and cultures. One of the doctors I am working with here is Camerounian! I feel like I am back in Africa and that feels like "home"

Thank you again for your prayers.

Feb. 13 - Just a quick note to say that we arrived safely today. It is an awesome team and we are safe in the mountains at the mission hospital. There have been 3 days of national mourning in the country, including tomorrow so we will attend a church service here. Then we will organize into work roles and all the details. I have internet access freely here so will update you as we move into more of the hands on stuff.
Thank you for your prayer support.

Feb. 3 - I am currently in Haiti at the St Marc Hospital - very busy at the beginning of the week we had around 200 patients from the quake. Many have fractures , crush injuries, head injuries, and new amputees - men, women, children, and infants.

Many difficult times and many joyless moments and God is with me through it all. I give him praise.

I airlifted a critical patient with flesh eating disease Sunday to the ship "Comfort Ship”. Today we airlifted four spinal injuries out who will be medivac'd tomorrow to Montreal.

We need prayer for: the transfer of eight people who have either a fractured pelvis and/or hips; places for our patients to go to recover with family (close to the hospital); supplies like crutches, glucometer, heparin; and Wisdom and Grace.

In His service
