Official Workers:
Most official workers function in a full-time capacity. They must be members of an Alliance church. They include such positions as:
|
Officers |
Administrators |
District superintendents |
| Field directors |
District and field administrative personnel |
Pastoral staff |
| Ministers of music |
Ministers in women's ministries |
Evangelists |
| Ministers-at-large |
Missionaries |
Faculty of official schools/colleges |
| Chaplains |
|
|
Depending on the position, they are licensed annually for their respective area of authority either by the district in which they work, or by the National Ministry Centre.
Lay Pastors:
Licenses for lay pastors are issued by district authorities. Such appointments are intended for secularly employed or retired persons who, for a period in their lives, feel called to be usefully employed in a Christian ministry, in planting a new extension church or in pastoring a congregation not financially able to support a full-time pastor.
Christian Workers:
These workers are involved in specific ministries who do not qualify for an official worker's license but who do merit recognition. Such certificates may be issued on the request of a local church Board of Elders to the district superintendent. The District Executive Committee may also recommend such appointments when the ministry of the individual is not related to the local church.
Vocational Workers:
This certificate may be issued to non-clergy church vocational workers, such as church administrators and school principals.
Ordained Clergy:
Ordination is the solemn observance of the church, together with the Elders, who set apart and charge men whom God has called and equipped for ministry. Only men who are definitely called to a preaching or theological ministry will be considered for ordination.
There is a basic ordination program, including reading of selected material, the preparation of papers on selected subjects, an oral examination and practical church ministry. |
