Christian Perspective

The number of professing Christians has decreased since independence as many were French expatriates who have left the country. There are also many unreached people groups. This strongly Muslim land is open to the Gospel. There have been many churches planted, and through missions’ outreaches, such as medical care for those with leprosy, many are being touched.

Praise Points:

  • An evangelical movement has been established
  •  Great increase of churches in Niamey (from 1 evangelical church in 1975 to over 50 in 2000)
  • The beginning of conversions amongst the Wodaabe Fulbe and Manga Kanuri Muslims

Prayer Points:

  • Strong Christian leadership is needed as well as opportunities for leadership training
  • Pray for outreach to the isolated peoples, unreached people, and youth of the nation
  • Pray that the new translated Bibles will impact the people
