Christian Perspective

Though advanced technologically, Japan is a nation that struggles spiritually. Less than 1% of the populace is Christian, and 90% of those who become Christian later backslide due to external pressures from society, family, being “unequally yoked”, and the “pervasive influence of spiritual darkness.”

Praise Points:

  • Christian TV and radio have been good tools in reaching the lost. Christian literature has also been an excellent source of witness to the people.
  • Burden for prayer for revival, and a new openness to the Gospel after over a century of almost no church growth.

Prayer Points:

  • Spiritual barrenness.
  • Aging population has left the youth becoming materialistic and unresponsive to the Gospel.
  • Japan is a political and economic crisis.
