Christian Perspective

Danube River divides Hungary in half creating a natural barrier between the Catholic (west) and Protestant (east) sides of the country. Hungary has some of the highest alcohol and suicide rates in the world. The city of Szombathely (near Austria border) is a center for witchcraft, Mormonism, and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Praise Points:

  • The peaceful transition from Communist dictatorship to parliamentary democracy.
  • Religious freedom.

Prayer Points:

  • Increase in stress, alcoholism, suicide, cults and practicing of the occult.
  • The legacies of Marxism (suspicion, mistrust, division) still affect the people and also the church.
  • There is a great need for evangelists, pastors, and church workers.
