Christian Perspective

For 49 years the nation has struggled with guerilla insurrections. The 1990 election of an evangelical president and vice president cost the jobs of 100,000 guerillas. They turned to assaulting, kidnapping, and robbing the people of Guatemala as a new means of financial support. The separation of Church and State has provided the general populace with religious freedom. Now ¼ of the population professes Christ.

Praise Points:

  • The signing of the peace treaty which ended 36 years of wa
  • The growing appreciation of the authorities towards the social work done by Christian organization
  • The continued growth of the Evangelical churc

Prayer Points:

  • Recognition of wrongs and atrocities committed during the war year
  • Pray for genuine faith and depth of relationship with God amongst the many convert
  • Pray that the people would turn away from their reintroduced Mayan beliefs
