Christian Perspective

This political power center for the European Union is a nation haunted by the past. The effects of the Berlin Wall, namely the tension between the East and West Berliners, and WWII have taken their toll on the morale and minds of the people of Germany. Germany has a state church. Every person who claims to be a member of the church must pay a tax for its up keeping. A growing number of people are relinquishing their church membership In order to avoid paying the extra tax. There are many churches in Germany, but sadly a growing number of them are becoming empty.

Praise Points:

  • The arrival of a new age for Germany marked by the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall, and the 1991 reunification of Germany.
  • Growth of evangelical/charismatic churches and the rise of interest in spiritual things amongst the youth.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray that a strong Christian would lead the nation as it holds a power position in the EU.
  • Pray that the spiritual blindness which is descending on the nation would be lifted.
  • Pray that there would be a revival—a growth in genuine believers across the churches in Germany.
