Geography:

  • Climate: tropical along coast, but becomes cooler inland at higher elevations. It is tropical in Amazonian jungle lowlands.

Christian Perspective

Ecuador is, predominantly, a Catholic nation. The nation functions in political unrest. Conflicts between Catholics and Evangelicals have reached the point of violence. Peace between denominations is needed, as well as a renewed use of the Christian tools the nation has been given.

Praise Points:

  • The sections of the Quichua that have been greatly impacted by the Gospel.
  • HCJB Radio, started in 1931, was the first of the great Christian mission broadcasts and is now a ministry known both in Ecuador and worldwide.

Prayer Points:

  • Need for an honest government.
  • Peace between the Catholic majority and Protestant minority.
  • Missions work amongst the jungle tribes and maturing of the jungle churches.
